Broken eggs or broken legs

I am suffering from too-much-to-write-about-in-the-blog-so-I-don't-know-where-to-begin-itis.
Too. Much. To. Catch. Up. On.  So, today I won't try.

I will just share this moment from yesterday.

I had just returned home from Costco and needed to unload the back of the car before running out to an appointment.  I stacked all the Costco stuff into one small box and balanced the box with one hand while I reached up to shut the back of the van with the other hand.  Except it didn't work very well and somehow the box slipped and I very dramatically scrambled for it in the air before it landed upside down in the driveway, completely smashing 14 eggs.  And, of course, I had spent extra to get the brown Omega-3 eggs, and now all that good nutrition was running down my driveway.

One of my neighbors had been driving by and witnessed my clumsiness.  I just had to laugh. I remembered some wisdom that Dan's Mom shared with him growing up . . . some problems are broken eggs and some are broken legs.  Broken legs you have to do something to fix, but all you can do for a broken egg is clean it up.  So I did.  I picked up eggshells and then turned the hose on the driveway to wash away the goo.

And it did occur to me that it was a good reminder for me to set some things down in life. Sometimes the box - or the worries - don't seem too heavy and I think I can handle it. But, if it's too much then everything ends up smashed on the cement (but hopefully not literally!)

So, there's my thought for the day.  Slow down. Hold the box with both hands.  And clean up the messes. And try to laugh about it.
