March

And, a few random March (non birthday) events:

I have been patting myself on the back for being the mean Mom who requires children to take piano lessons, drives them to uncounted lessons over the years, and calmly ignores their protests and pleas to stop lessons. All of the kids love music, and lately some beautiful solos and duets are happening in our house!
When Brandon lived at home we had a birthday celebration every St. Patrick's Day, but now that he is off on his own we aren't able to party with him.  Instead, we had a special St. Patrick's Day dinner. When Joseph saw me preparing the green food, he decided that we needed to have a Porter Restaurant, and he would be the very official looking maitre'd.  He set up a table to greet guests, complete with a plant, a notebook to track availability at the tables, and a bell to ring.

As each person checked in, he provided them with a menu of the current restaurant offerings.

Joseph typed up the menu, naming each item:

Green layered muddy buddies,
Spinach tortellini
Pesto sauce
Green apples
Greener than grass spinach
Tropical tree Broccoli
Green sensation Jell-O
Celery
Cucumber greens
Pea Green peas

Bailey debated whether or not to choose this particular restaurant . . . . or starve. Happily, she chose to eat at the Porter Restaurant.
Once a seat was available, Joseph the Maitre'D allowed each customer through the door.
It was a great, GREEN dinner!
Grandma and Grandpa Springer celebrated Brandon's birthday by treating Brandon and Angela to dinner at The Brick Oven in Provo. We wish we could have been there!

In March, I also spent time at each of the kid's schools for Student-led Conferences, in which the student leads a presentation about his or her accomplishments and goals. I am happy to report that each of the kids are working hard and doing very well in school.

The 3rd graders in Joseph's classroom gave the parents a tour of their desks, room, and projects.

After Aubrey and I had a wonderful meeting with her teacher advocate (Ms. Ball), we snapped a picture by beautiful blossoms. The blossoms are gorgeous right now!
Then we raced over to Bailey's school, where I surreptitiously snapped this quick photo of her working at the check-in desk as part of her ASB duties.  Then we met with her teacher and completed her SENIOR YEAR forecasting.
Someone tell me it isn't so.  My baby girl can not be a Senior next year . . .
