Bailey didn't party with us for long, as she left to the youth New Years dance.
I'm not sure why she was sporting the big red noisemaker lip look, but it suits her, don't you think?
While at the dance she and a good friend staged lots of fun pictures, including this one that they titled "forever a third wheel."
My favorite decorations: our nativity sets. We are collecting quite a few, from all around the world. For Christmas and my birthday this year my parents sent us some nativity sets crafted by artisans from Lesotho, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Mexico. The cards hanging on the wall below were painted by orphans in Nigeria.
We also spent some time slurping hot cocoa through Ukrainian cookies. Brandon sent us a fun Christmas package which included packages of wafer cookies, and he gave us instructions for how we should eat them. The missionaries in Ukraine have entertained themselves by devising a way to bite off the ends of the cookie and then slurp the hot cocoa through it like a straw. We learned that you have to do it pretty fast, though, or the cookie turns to mush.
Joseph wasn't a fan of the sogginess, but he did like the cookie without the hot cocoa.
We all set some goals and prepared ourselves for the start of school and Seminary. It was pretty painful to re-set our sleeping schedules, as we had all been staying up late and sleeping in (except for Dan, who still had to work - poor guy!). We set our alarms and pulled ourselves out of bed Wednesday January 2nd at 4:45 a.m.
And those were a few moments from the first part of our new year.
