We love any excuse to check out the awesome waterfalls around us. When our friends the Yates were in town last Friday we took them to the Columbia River Gorge, where there are 20 waterfalls within a short distance. Most of the waterfalls are easily viewable either from the road (the old Columbia River Highway) or within a short walk. I just can't believe we live in such a beautiful place!

Below, this was a really fun one. The short walk to Shepherd's Dell Falls seemed like something out of Harry Potter (magical!) and the falls were so close that we could touch them.
Bridal Veil Falls (below) might just be our favorite. It was a slightly longer walk, but the reward was amazing. The kids stood at the base of the falls and enjoyed the mist and wind gusts coming from the powerful fall of water. Aubrey and I clambered up to a big rock overlooking the falls, and we found a wonderful spot. The sound of the falls, the feel of the mist, the smells of the forest . . . it was amazing. We want to visit again soon!
The famous Multnomah Falls. Always extraordinary (although crowded).
Come visit us - we will show you all this and more!
